Orientation for the choice of studies – the esra platform continues to grow

HU publishes 18 new video clips with professional presentations

What makes up my desired course of study? What do I have to expect during my studies? And what can I do later with my degree? Even though the Corona crisis is currently determining our thoughts and actions, future students still have questions about studying. The orientation tool esra has now published 18 new videos on various subjects, which can be used by prospective students to obtain information online, making it easier to choose a suitable subject. Included are videos on studying law, psychology and theology, but also on humanities subjects such as European ethnology and Slavic studies as well as the MINT subjects computer science, physics and chemistry.

The videos give students and graduates authentic and differentiated insights into their subjects as well as tips for a successful start to their studies. Teachers present their subjects and their work, give advice on choosing subjects and explain career prospects after graduation.

All videos can be found on the esra website.

In total esra now offers 40 video clips: The 28 testimonials, some of which were produced by the HU itself and others in cooperation with the educational platform whatchado, are dedicated to specific questions; they also include the new interviews described above. In another six video clips on the topic of "making a coherent decision", students shed light on what helped them in their own choice of studies and what they would do differently today. As a third format, esra offers "myth videos". In six videos so far, widespread rumours and errors concerning the studies of HU members are examined in detail - from numerus clausus to the standard period of study to changing subjects.

In the last project year and until the end of 2020, esra will be expanded to include new target groups: In cooperation with the project "Diversity of Students", content for prospective students with disabilities and professionally qualified students according to §11 BerlHG will be developed. Videos on subjects not yet represented will be produced for this purpose.
